Star New Zealand opener Devon Conway has rejoined the CSK squad at the Chepauk. Initially sidelined from IPL 2024 due to a thumb injury, Conway has now returned to the team. CSK had previously enlisted England’s Richard Gleeson as Conway’s replacement a few days ago.
The CSK team posted a photo of Conway seated on the pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The photo is captioned as, “Dev at Anbuden.”

The IPL issued a statement confirming that the prominent New Zealand batsman would not participate in the remainder of the tournament. Initially, he was only absent for the first half. Conway had surgery to address the injury sustained during the T20I series between New Zealand and Australia.
“Devon Conway has been ruled out of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to an injury. Conway, who represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) throughout the last two IPL seasons, played 23 matches and scored 924 runs, which included 9 half-centuries and a highest score of 92*.”
“CSK has added Richard Gleeson to the squad for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2024. Gleeson has represented England in 6 T20Is and has 9 wickets against his name. Additionally, Gleeson has played 90 T20s and picked 101 T20 wickets,” the IPL said in a release.
