As listed by the USDA, you can purchase fruits and vegetables; meat, poultry, and fish; dairy products; breads and cereals; snack foods and non-alcoholic beverages; and seeds and plants, which produce food for the household to eat.

At Target, you can shop for more than 4,500 EBT-eligible groceries. As of 2021, Target operates nearly 2,000 stores throughout the United States, so it shouldn’t be hard to find one near you – with 321 of them in California alone.

How to use your EBT card with Target

According to Target’s company website, you can use your EBT card in store and online.

For those wanting to shop online for groceries, pickup and delivery orders in eligible states, simply pay online using your EBT card at checkout.

However, you must login to your Target account first, set up the EBT card as a payment method and select the EBT card as the default payment method. This will then ensure the SNAP EBT balance is appliedto SNAP-eligible items.

If you plan to use the EBT card in store, you can swipe your card at checkout, where you will be asked to select which account – EBT cash or SNAP EBT balance – that you want to use.

You can spend your SNAP EBT balance on any SNAP-eligible items. After that, you’ll be able to use another payment method for any remaining items that are not SNAP-eligible.
