The United States women’s gymnastics team won to gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday, with Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey each capturing their first gold medals of the Games.
Biles and Chiles showcased their versatility by competing in all four events, while Lee excelled on uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Carey contributed her power and precision on vault.
The team’s victory was marked by a wave of excitement and camaraderie. Following their triumph, Biles and Lee were caught on camera discussing potential TikTok celebrations.
True to their word, both gymnasts shared playful videos on the platform, with Biles showcasing the team’s gold medals and Lee referencing Kanye West‘s iconic line, “Everybody want to know what I would do if I didn’t win. I guess we’ll never know.”
“Chomping. I want to do the chomping of the gold medals,” Biles said.
Lee added: “Okay. And I want to do the one that says, ‘imagine what we would do if we didn’t win’.”
Making history
Biles’ gold marks her fifth Olympic gold medal, solidifying her status as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. Lee, who previously won gold in the all-around at the Tokyo Olympics, added another gold to her collection.
Both Biles and Lee will continue their quest for individual glory, competing in the all-around final on Thursday. They will also reunite on the balance beam on Monday.
The team’s dominant performance has set the stage for an exciting individual competition.
