How many times have the Minnesota Lynx made it to the WNBA Semi-Finals as Cheryl Reeve prepares to guide her team to eliminate the Connecticut Sun and punch their ticket to the WNBA Finals?
The Lynx hold a 2-1 series lead as they head to the Mohegan Sun Arena on October 6 for Game 4, knowing a win will see them progress to the final matches of the 2024 season, where they would face either the Las Vegas Aces or the New York Liberty.
It would offer the Minneapolis-based side a fifth chance to claim a WNBA championship and a first title since the 2017 season, whilst Reeve would sign off a very strong year after already being voted Coach of the Year as well as becoming an Olympic champion.
The side entered the WNBA Playoffs as the Western Conference leaders with a 30-10 record, beating the Aces by three wins. They were narrowly shy of the WNBA leaders, the New York Liberty, who finished with a 32-8 record.
The Lynx first made it to the WNBA Semi-Finals, then called the Conference Finals as the league mirrored the NBA’s structure, in 2011 under the guidance of Reeve where they were successful winners by sweeping the Phoenix Sun.
And they went on to win the championship too, sparking a run of seven consecutive Conference Finals/Semi-Finals appearances including four WNBA Finals in which they won three of them and launched a dynasty.
Reeve and her side then suffered a series of set backs ever since the 2017 season, only managing to make the WNBA Semi-Finals twice in 2020 and 2024 and even failing to qualify for the postseason at all in the 2022 season.
So overall, the Minnesota Lynx have made nine WNBA Semi-Finals and have managed to win six of them as fans await the outcome of the ongoing series.
