Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is having one hell of a season with his squad being the only undefeated team in the NFL through eight weeks after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-24 on Monday Night Football.
With this result the Chiefs dream to become the first team in history to achieve a three-peat continues along with their perfect season.
Andy Reid’s words of celebration
Andy Reid was in a good mood after the Chiefs victory over the Buccanners and he had some words for the camera, “Let’s give a good one here, men, for these cameras. How ’bout those Chiefs!” the head coach said.
Reid acknowledged the great job that his team did overall to beat Tampa Bay, including good performances from special teams, the kicker, the punter, the long snapper, “it was a beautiful thing”.
Are the Chiefs gonna remain undefeated?
Things are looking pretty good for the Chiefs so far and a perfect record for the 2024 season is halfway through, but not everyone thinks that Kansas City would remain undefeated.
Legendary Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday explained that there are psychological and strategic reasons for ending an unbeaten streak before the end of the regular season, and head coach Andy Reid knows it.
According to Saturday, the best coaches understand that an undefeated streak can cause a team to become overconfident. To avoid this, Reid could follow the example of Bill Polian and Jim Caldwell, who held the Colts back in two different seasons and both ended up reaching the Super Bowl.
Speaking to Unsportsmanlike Radio, the former player recalled the 2006 season when the Colts won Super Bowl XLI. The team entered Week 10 undefeated, but head coach Bill Polian held his players back for the Week 11 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Chiefs have now won their first eight games for the third time in franchise history; the previous two times (2003 and 2013), they went 9-0 before losing in their tenth game. Will history repeat itself this year when they take on the Buffalo Bills?
