Checo Perez condemns his father's homophobic attack on Ralf Schumacher

Formula 1 resumes this weekend with the Las Vegas Grand Prix and the pressure on Sergio Perez due to the poor results of the season was compounded by a homophobic comment from his father against Ralf Schumacher, and Czech had to come out to condemn the statements.

In the framework of the Las Vegas GP, Czech Perez exploded against his father Tono Perez, and regretted that he offended Schumacher for his sexual orientation, something he does not share, after a few months ago the former driver revealed his homosexuality.

    Checo Perez defends Ralf Schumacher

During an interview with Sky Sports, the Red Bull Racing driver was asked about his father’s controversial statements against the German.

“I don’t agree with any of his comments. I think he made a mistake in that regard and I don’t share any of his opinions,” said Sergio Perez.

Sergio Perez distanced himself from the words of Antonio Perez Garibay, in a situation that is not in his hands: “I don’t control what my father has to say, I can only control what I have to say,” he insisted.

In this regard, the Mexican agrees with Ralf Schumacher, since he has to speak with results and not with homophobic comments, because “it is important as a sport to always show that everything that happens on the track always stays on the track”.

Ralf Schumacher’s response to Checo Perez’s father

“Many media said that Checo would no longer race in Mexico or that he was saying goodbye in Mexico, they should at least apologize,” was how Antonio Perez defended the Red Bull driver in an interview with ESPN.

However, the Mexican politician attacked Ralf Schumacher for his sexual orientation: “There is a driver who was in Formula 1 and is now a journalist, who first declares that Checo was already out of Red Bull and the following weeks comes out of the closet. I don’t know if he was in love with Checo.”

In the face of this comment, the German gave Too Perez a slap in the face with a white glove, and instead of offending him, he said that the best way to respond is with results.

“I would also support my son 100% and try to help. That’s how you do it as a parent. Regarding the style in which he did it, I would be different, but we know Mr. Perez with all his emotions, that’s why I’m not angry with him. However, I think the results on the track would be the best arguments,” concluded Schumacher.
