49ers linebacker leaves ‘TNF,’ telling coaches he did not want to play

In the third quarter of Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell was seen leaving the sidelines and headed to the locker room.

It was not because of an injury.

Campbell told the 49ers coaching staff during the game that he simply did not want to play, and took it upon himself to leave.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that news in his post-game news conference, saying that Campbell informed the coaches he did not want to enter the game in place of Dre Greenlaw when he exited the game.

Here is Shanahan answering questions about it, along with the “Thursday Night Football” crew offering their own perspective.
