Micah Parsons drops hint about his future with Cowboys amid trade rumors

Micah Parsons’ season has been as inconsistent as the Dallas Cowboys, with a disaster in several games, some weeks injured and sometimes he remembers that he is one of the stars of the defense and gives performances like last Sunday’s in the 30-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

With the ups and downs in a season in which the Cowboys started with high expectations after the multi-million dollar contract extensions to quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb, according to The Spun speculation began that instead of offering linebacker Micah Parsons more money, a trade could be sought.

Parsons has addressed the topic on other occasions about the desire to stay long in Dallas, even to be “a cowboy for life,” and on Monday night he reiterated it on his podcast The Edge.

“As I said, you all know that I’ll be a Cowboy for life. We’re going to find a way for me to be a Cowboy for life. I think Jerry and Stephen [Jones] see it that way too,” Parsons said during the podcast.

Micah Parsons confident of having a great offseason

With the win over the Panthers, the Cowboys improved to 6-8 with three games remaining against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before closing out against division rivals the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. On an individual level, Micah has 32 tackles and 8.5 quarterback sacks in his 10 appearances in 2024, despite everything, he hinted that he envisions an interesting offseason in 2025.

“I think we’re going to attack free agency. I think it’s going to be a great year. I think we have the pieces, man,” Parsons said.

The message from the front office has been clear in dismissing rumors of Micah Parsons‘ departure, as they know he is next in line to negotiate a new contract.

“We love Micah. I can’t imagine there’s a scenario where he doesn’t have a star on his helmet,” Stephen Jones said recently, while acknowledging that they bet on Dak and CeeDee, but “after that, you still have to shape things up, including Micah. But Micah is a great player. You don’t play well in this league if you let players like Micah go home.”
