Bucks’ Damian Lillard outshoots Thunder from deep on his own in NBA Cup win

Damian Lillard made five three-pointers in the NBA Cup final. The Oklahoma City Thunder made five threes as a team.

Lillard shot 5-for-10 from behind the arc and scored 23 points in the Milwaukee Bucks’ 97-81 win over the Thunder in the NBA Cup final. That’s far more efficient than the Thunder were from deep, going 5-for-32 on threes as a team.

Two of Lillard’s threes came as Milwaukee took control of the game with a 26-14 third quarter. The Bucks made three three-pointers in the first three minutes and took a double-digit lead. Lillard again matched the Thunder’s entire team’s total for threes.

The Bucks also got hot shooting performances from AJ Green (3-for-5), Gart Trent Jr. (3-for-6) and Brook “Splash Mountain” Lopez (3-for-6).

While most of the Bucks shot well, Lillard still shot with the most style. The Thunder take pride in their tenacious defense, but there’s no defense that can stop Lillard when he is making shots 31 feet from the basket.

Or when he’s sinking shots while falling out of bounds.

Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated the Thunder inside. But when the Bucks are scoring from outside, too, they’re very hard to beat.
