Saquon Barkley’s arrival in Philadelphia Eagles was simply spectacular. The Penn State product totaled 2,005 rushing yards and added 15 touchdowns, earning the Offensive Player of the Year award last season.
Barkley caught the attention of fans and NFL experts for his crucial role in a year where the Eagles ended up winning Super Bowl LIX against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 28-year-old Eagle was close to breaking the record for most rushing yards in a season. Barkley fell 92 yards short of breaking the historic 2,097-yard record held by Eric Dickerson, set in 1984. It’s important to note that Saquon didn’t play the last game of the season by decision of Head Coach Nick Sirianni, to get him ready for the playoffs; this decision prevented him from breaking the record.
The new addition to the Eagles’ offense
The Eagles’ management signed running back AJ Dillon for one year to work alongside Saquon next season. Dillon didn’t play last year due to a neck injury, but he has a lot of experience and could be important for Philadelphia’s offense.
Among the qualities of the former Green Bay Packers running back is his great physicality at 6 feet and 247 pounds, which will undoubtedly add power to the current Super Bowl champions’ attack.
Dillon was selected by the Packers in the second round of the 2020 draft with the 62nd overall pick, and during his time with Green Bay, he accumulated 2,428 yards and 16 touchdowns in 60 games.
The Eagles averaged 179.3 rushing yards per game, ranking second in the NFL, thanks to a fantastic season from Saquon Barkley, which helped Philadelphia ultimately secure the Vince Lombardi trophy.
