As the 2025 NCAA Championship progresses, there have been many goal scorers this season who have proven to be elite on the offensive end. Will one of these top goal scorers end up lifting the NCAA title? We’ll have to wait and see how the tournament plays out. For now, let’s take a look at the current top goal scorers.
Hope Leyba (Colorado)
In her junior year, Hope Leyba is tied with Faith Webber at the top of the list with 22 recorded goals as of now. She grew up in Phoenix but has had an immense impact on the Colorado Boulders organization this year. She has consistently improved in her position, as evidenced by her sophomore year, when she led the team with 8 goals, and this season, she broke the record for most goals scored at Colored. Hope’s consistency has been outstanding, and there’s no doubt that her Big 12 Forward of the Year and first-team All-Big 12 awards for this season have been earned.
Faith Webber (Utah Valley)
As a graduate player playing in her final collegiate season, Webber continues to showcase her tenacity and goal-driven mindset. A great player is never satisfied, and Webber has shown just that by aiming to achieve more for the Wolverines this season, even though last season she was awarded Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Webber has helped the Utah Valley organization win the WAC regular season championship for the past four consecutive seasons. She has already gotten a taste of professional training with the Utah Royals and San Diego Wave, so it should come as no surprise when we see Webber hit the pitch for a NWSL team or other professional women’s club.
Erika Zschuppe (Florida Gulf Coast University)
Zschuppe just capped off her senior year at FGCU in historic fashion. Not only did she surpass the single-season program goalscoring record, but she also claimed Player, Midfielder, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year Athletic Sun Conference awards. She sure made it possible for the FGCU Eagles to fly high this season. Zschuppe intends to continue her soccer career at the professional level overseas in Europe.
Izzy Engle (Notre Dame)
Right off the bat, Engle has been a force to be reckoned with. In her first season, she broke the goalscoring record for a freshman with 19 goals scored. This season, she recorded the same number of goals. Engle still has a lot to look forward to in her collegiate career as she just finished her sophomore season. She was awarded ACC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ACC selection this season. Besides her excellence at Notre Dame, she has also represented the U-19 and U-20 national teams.
Samantha Erbach (Xavier University)
As a dual athlete, Erbach has shown herself to be a well-rounded athlete in both track and soccer. With 18 goals scored, she ranks at number five in the top goalscorers list. She also made a massive impact on the pitch by tallying 16 assists. Erbach is known as both a midfielder and forward, so her stats surely support that her true positions are in the upper, attacking half of the field. In her two years in the Xavier women’s soccer program, she has already found great success, earning herself the Big East Freshman of the Year honors, Big East Midfielder of the Year, All-Big East First Team, and the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Big East tournament.
Jasmine Aikey (Stanford)
Aikey is as versatile as a soccer player can be. She has seen most positions on the field and has excelled in the midfield and defensive center back spots. In 2023, she was awarded the Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year. This season, she is tied at number six for the top goalscorers list with 17 goals. Aikey is also no stranger to the US soccer organization, as she has participated in the USYNT camps.
Seven Castain (TCU)
Looking at the TCU program as a whole, Castain holds an important role in the success of the Horned Frogs. From winning multiple Big-12 regular-season championships to being named first-team All-Big 12 three times, Castain has asserted her role in the TCU organization as unforgettable. This season, she is tied at sixth place on the top goalscorers list with 17 goals recorded. Castain is destined to make an impact on a professional squad after her TCU days, as she has already had success with the Utah United in the USL W League.
Maya Matesa (Duquesne)
Matesa checked off two accomplishments this season by setting a new program goalscoring record (17) and becoming the program leader in career goals (29). Her four years at Duquesne reflect hard work and effort as she demonstrated immeasurable skill on the attacking side. This season, she was also awarded Athletic-10 Offensive Player of the Year, the first for Duquesne in program history. The A-10 award recognizes athletic accomplishments and academic achievement, so Matesa proved to be excellent on the field and as a marketing scholar.
