WWE reportedly stands firm against bringing back former World Heavyweight Champion

WWE doesn’t seem to have any plans to bring back a former World Heavyweight Champion.

The company’s stance on Alberto Del Rio remains the same, and the chances of him coming back to his old stomping grounds are slim to none if recent reports are to be believed.

The dark clouds continue to hover over the Mexican wrestler since he was forced out of AAA following his loss against El Mesías last Summer.

Fans have since been wondering whether a potential WWE return is on the cards for the Essence of Excellence. Rumor has it that Roman Reigns was among those pushing for his return, but all signs point to him being erased from the company.

Interestingly, Alberto Del Rio recently sparked speculation about his return when he noted that he was in talks with WWE, and implied that his return was a matter of when, not if.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful quashed his statement, saying that Del Rio and the Stamford-based promotion are not in talks. In fact, the company isn’t interested in bringing him back anytime soon.

According to a report from Cultaholic, Alberto Del Rio’s previous “sins” are blocking his WWE return.

Is Alberto Del Rio’s WWE return still a possibility?

Despite the rumors, Jim Ross believes Alberto Del Rio could make his return to the Stamford-based promotion.

During his Grilling JR podcast, the AEW commentator admitted that the Mexican wrestler hasn’t been easy to deal with in the past, but advised the two sides to hash things out through communication.

“It wouldn’t surprise me. He’s a very good talent. He has a great look. Being bilingual is another positive selling point. His issues are his reliability because of what you [host Conrad Thompson] already talked about. There’s issues there. He’s outspoken. There’s nothing wrong with being outspoken, that’s a fact, but sometimes his timing isn’t as good as one would ideally like. All that takes is communication and management.”

Triple H recently brought back Matt Cardona to SmackDown. Will he add another name to the list? Only time will tell.
