Former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently spoke about the booking for Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes. The two stars battled each other for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The two stars faced each other in a Three Stages of Hell match. Drew picked up the win in the first bout with a kick below the belt while the ref was distracted, followed by a Claymore. The American Nightmare fought back in the Falls Count Anywhere Match, hitting McIntyre with a Cross Rhodes on the announce table for the second fall. In the final Steel Cage match, pure chaos ensued as Jacob Fatu returned and attacked both stars. While Rhodes and Fatu were brawling inside the ring, The Scottish Warrior narrowly escaped and became the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
Thanks for the submission!
On a recent episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran manager was shocked to see interference inside the steel cage. He pointed out that the whole point of the structure was to prevent anyone from stepping in or out of the cage. Cornette lambasted WWE for their modifications to the cage match with the stipulation of opening the door and escaping the cage.
“Drew is crawling for the door, and there’s a hooded figure. It’s Jacob Fatu. They stare at each other, and Drew runs from him like he’s seen a ghost and tries to climb out. And Jacob gets in the ring again, right in front of the referee. It’s no disqualification, but you didn’t have to worry about somebody interfering in front of the referee in a cage match because you can’t interfere in a cage match because the door shouldn’t be open. This bogus-a*s WWE escape the cage sh*t.”
Drew McIntyre kept his promise after title win
WWE is currently touring Europe ahead of the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. This past weekend, Drew McIntyre finally fulfilled his promise of bringing the WWE Championship to his home in Glasgow, Scotland.
During the live event, the Scottish Warrior cut an emotional promo addressing the win. He mentioned how fans weren’t there for his first two title wins, and the third one barely lasted for a few minutes. The star recalled being screwed over several times before finally getting hold of the coveted title.
It will be interesting to see how WWE books Drew McIntyre’s title reign in the coming months.
