Wolves receive £12m bid for star who’s agreed personal terms with new club

Wolverhampton Wanderers have received a bid for an important player, who has already agreed personal terms to join a new club.

Wolves need to sell befoe they can buy this month

Rob Edwards has confirmed Wolves may have to sell before they buy during the January transfer window, saying: “We might have to do that. It depends on what we want to try and bring in as well. There are different ways of doing that, whether it’s buying or whether it’s loaning.

“Of course, January can be quite difficult anyway. With the situation that we’re in, we’ve got to be clever with who we’re bringing in.

“We want to bring in the people who want to be here and feel that they can really affect it, and we feel can affect it as well. But if we’re going to spend some money, it might be that we have to generate some of that as well.”

Edwards is yet to bring in any new signings, as the Old Gold haven’t cashed in on any of their players thus far, despite interest in the likes of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and midfielder Joao Gomes.

Emmanuel Agbadou has also been attracting interest, with it recently being revealed the defender has agreed personal terms on a move to Besiktas, and there has now been a new update on his future at Molineux.

Journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu states Besiktas have now submitted an offer of €14m (£12m) plus bonuses for the centre-back (via Sport Witness), but it is unclear whether Wolves will be willing to accept the proposal.

Having paid €20m (£17m) to sign Agbadou last year, the Old Gold would be making a loss if they chose to accept the current bid, but there is a feeling they may be ‘eager’ to move him on.

Losing Agbadou could be blow for Wolves

It is perhaps the correct decision to cash-in on the Ivorian, given that there is little point keeping hold of a player who wants to move on, but losing him could be an issue, as he has impressed at times since arriving from Reims last year.

The £85k-a-week defender was praised for his performance on debut against Bristol City last season, with former manager Vitor Pereira saying: “He was consistent. To play on the left side and not be left footed is not easy.”

The 18-time Ivory Coast international has also showcased his ability to win back possession on a regular basis over the past year, averaging 2.16 tackles per 90, which ranks him in the 92nd percentile, compared to his positional peers.

Although Wolves have improved in recent weeks, picking up their first Premier League victory of the season against West Ham United, relegation still looks almost inevitable, which means there may be major changes in the coming months, and Agbadou moving to Besiktas could be one of many blows.
