Mirra Andreeva vs Diana Shnaider preview

Usual women’s doubles partners Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider are set to turn on their singles rivalry on Friday, January 15, for one of the 2026 Adelaide International’s two women’s singles semifinals.
18-year-old Andreeva, the World No. 8 and the third seed in Adelaide, began her campaign at the WTA 500 event directly in the second round having received a first-round bye. Her road to the semifinals has been pretty straightforward, consisting of a 6-3, 6-1 win over Marie Bouzkova and an even more dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory against home hope Maya Joint in the last eight.
Shnaider, Andreeva’s 21-year-old compatriot, has so far overcome the challenges of former US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez, doubles No. 1 Katerina Siniakova and sixth seed Emma Navarro. Siniakova was the only one who was able to take the World No. 23 Russian to three sets.
Before Adelaide, both Andreeva and Shnaider featured in Brisbane, where the former finished as a quarterfinalist and the latter exited in the Round of 16.
Mirra Andreeva vs Diana Shnaider head-to-head

The upcoming 2026 Adelaide International semifinal between Andreeva and Shnaider is set to mark the Russians’ second competitive WTA Tour-level clash. Their only previous encounter was a first-round match at last year’s Brisbane International, which Andreeva won 6-2, 6-3.

Mirra Andreeva vs Diana Shnaider prediction
Both Andreeva and Shnaider have established themselves as aggressive, all-court players. However, there are subtle differences between the pair, which could very well decide the outcome of their 2026 Adelaide International semifinal showdown.
Andreeva’s two-handed backhand, slice and overall court coverage are highly regarded, whereas Shnaider knows very well how to rip her forehands and also to mix up her shots for gaining a tactical advantage over her opponents. However, it’s likely that it’s the teenager who is feeling more confident going into the contest, particularly considering her win over her compatriot in Brisbane last year.
Pick: Andreeva to win in three sets.
