Like multiple other franchises, the Chennai Super Kings were also not untouched by the curse of injuries as their star all-rounder Kyle Jamieson was ruled out of the IPL 2023 after scans revealed that his stress fracture to the back has reoccurred and he will be out of cricket for a while.
As a replacement, CSK recruited the South Africa pacer Sisanda Magala, who will be unavailable for their IPL 2022 opening match on March 31 and possibly their first match back in Chennai on April 3 as well, after he was named in the Proteas squad for Netherlands ODIs. s
