Joey Logano acknowledges “unfair advantage” as Team Penske star acquires stake in Ford dealership

Joey Logano has stepped into automotive retail with a stake in Kraus Auto Group’s Huntersville Ford dealership. Logano shared how he plans to ‘add a little bit more’ to the business using his racing repertoire.

As the driver behind Team Penske’s No.22 Ford, Logano believes that his success on track will translate to vehicle sales. The three-time Cup Series champion has an existing relationship with the Huntersville outlet as it’s his hometown dealership.

Krause Auto Group sold 18,622 vehicles in 2024, while Huntersville Ford sells around 1,500 to 1,700 cars every year. Logano is expected to have a hands-on approach to the business, having educated himself over the past year.

“There’s a lot to learn, but I also feel like I can bring a lot to the table,” Joey Logano said via Auto News, “As a race car driver, you have an unfair advantage in business because I’m able to pretty much connect with about anyone I want to connect with, which is a great tool to have. The goal here is to take what Huntersville Ford already is in the Krause Auto Group, that’s grown an incredible business, and try to add a little bit more to it.”

The store’s General Manager, Stacy Cowan, shared that he intends to use Joey Logano’s name and image to rebrand the dealership.

Joey Logano comments on Ford’s lineup

Joey Logano drives a stable of Ford cars and is currently awaiting delivery of a Ford Mustang GTD. He also owns a 1924 Ford Model T, while an F-150 remains his daily driver.

That said, Logano shared an optimistic take on Ford’s lineup.

“If you’re asking me as a race car driver, I want something fast, I want something reliable, I want something that’s unique and cool. When you look at the Ford lineup that they have, I think Jim Farley said this the best a few years ago: ‘No more boring cars.’ Even the practical cars are really cool. They have a good mix of cars that Americans want these days,” he said via aforementioned source.

Joey Logano failed to defend his title last year. He couldn’t break past the Round of 8, while none of the Ford drivers made it to the final four. He ended up seventh on the final standings, one spot below his 2024 challenger and Team Penske teammate, Ryan Blaney.

His only win came at Texas Motor Speedway, but his most thrilling moment happened at Charlotte Roval, where he narrowly edged out Ross Chastain to escape elimination.

Logano came close to a win in the All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, but an ill-timed promoter’s caution derailed his efforts. He ultimately logged seven top-5s, 13 top-10s, and four DNFs across 36 races.
