JUST IN: Abhishek Sharma admitted to hospital ahead of IND vs NAM clash; doubtful for Pakistan game in T20 World Cup 2026

Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to hospital as T20 World Cup 2026 is underway. 

The Indian Cricket Team have faced a massive blow ahead of the game against Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2026. As per the reports in various media outlets, it is learned that opener Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to a hospital in Delhi.

Abhishek Sharma has been dealing with stomach issues for the last few days, and even played the game against the USA with a fever. But, it was expected that he would get fit in time for India’s next clash against Namibia on February 12.

However, the reports claimed that, as Abhishek Sharma went to Gautam Gambhir’s residence for a team dinner, his condition deteriorated. The batter left the head coach’s home early and then was admitted to the hospital on Monday, where he was on Tuesday as well. 

Abhishek Sharma is under the observation of the medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). There is no official statement related to his fitness, but things don’t look good for him as the tournament is underway.

The reports also claimed that Abhishek Sharma will be missing the clash against Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2026. The game will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, February 12, and the batter wasn’t there in training sessions. 

Not only this, the reports claimed that Abhishek Sharma is also doubtful for the IND vs PAK clash. His availability will depend on his fitness, but with him being hospitalised, there are chances that he might not be there.

The reports also claimed that Sanju Samson is all set to play the IND vs NAM clash in the T20 World Cup 2026. The keeper-batter had an extended net session and if he plays, it will be a great opportunity for him to seal his place back in the XI.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma’s injury comes as a massive blow for India as he has been the best for India in the format. He didn’t have a great start to the tournament as he bagged a golden duck, but with the kind of player he is, he will be a valuable asset for his side.
