A new GTA 6 leaked footage video is doing the rounds on the internet. However, according to many observers, the seemingly convincing footage is completely fake. The video was seemingly filmed with a mobile phone and shows a screen playing the upcoming title. The video consists of various red flags, such as misspellings and odd-looking images.

The clip originated from the X account @TheGTA6Informer. It has since garnered the attention of millions of fans worldwide across various reposts. One of the posts even earned itself a Community Note from X, which reads the following:
“The footage is fake, containing misspellings like “Poin of interest” and “VICEE CITY” plus skull emojis overlaid throughout.”
This seems to be true. However, newer posts containing the same video may confuse fans since they’re blurrier than the original. The original video had a clear picture quality, which allowed fans to spot misspellings like ‘Poin of interest’ in the first place.
To make things worse, the main menu seems awfully unlike anything Rockstar Games has ever created in recent history. It even appears to have AI-generated images of various characters previously seen in trailers and promotional material.
The X page has since received much backlash from fans. In spite of this, they continue to insist that the footage is real, posting it several times. The page even reportedly got a DMCA takedown notice, possibly from Rockstar Games. However, just like the trailer, the authenticity of the notice remains unverified.
Overall, the seemingly fake trailer created much hype when it went viral first. Unfortunately, fans were quickly able to debunk it by comparing it with old trailer footage, uncovering similarities.
As of the time of writing, there is no new official or unofficial footage of GTA 6 on the internet. For those interested, music was certainly leaked ahead of the game’s release due to a mishap by the artist. As for a new trailer, fans will likely have to wait until at least September 2026 until they get one.
