Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly, suffering with health issue as she remains bedridden

Life has rarely slowed down for the Stafford family, but the past few months have tested them again.

Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly Stafford, offered fans a candid glimpse into her current health struggles this week, revealing she has largely been confined to bed.

In an Instagram story, Kelly shared a quiet family moment: Matthew and their daughters snuggled together on the couch while she filmed from beside them, curled up with one of the children. Her caption was brief but telling.

“Been pretty sick.. But got out of bed to snuggle and watch our new fav sport,” she posted on Instagram.

That “new fav sport” turned out to be curling – the Olympic ice sport where players slide heavy stones across a sheet of ice toward a target. The lighthearted family moment, however, came against the backdrop of a clear health setback. Kelly did not specify what illness has left her bedridden, but her message made clear that even getting up for a short stretch required effort.

    A History of Health Battles

For longtime followers, concern comes naturally. This is not the first time Kelly has opened up about alarming symptoms.

Back in November, she revealed on social media that her fingers had been discoloring and going numb.

“This has been happening at least once a day for the past couple of weeks,” she wrote at the time. “Anyone wanna tell what’s going on with my circulation? They go completely numb.”

She did not share a follow-up diagnosis publicly, leaving fans uncertain whether the issue resolved or remains ongoing.

Kelly’s transparency about her health dates back to 2019, when she faced a far more serious diagnosis. Doctors discovered she had an acoustic neuroma – a noncancerous tumor growing on the nerve connecting the ear to the brain. Though benign, the tumor was pressing against her cranial nerves and posed significant risks to her hearing, balance, and facial function.

The surgery to remove it was grueling. On April 17, 2019, Kelly underwent a 12-hour operation. The recovery process was equally demanding, both physically and emotionally.

In an interview with ESPN that year, she shared a moment that has since become part of the family’s story. Matthew had told her before surgery that he would stand on her right side if the outcome was good news, and on her left if it wasn’t.

When she woke up, he was standing on her right.

That moment symbolized not just medical success, but the resilience the couple has leaned on through multiple challenges.

Kelly has continued to share her life candidly with followers, balancing motherhood, recovery, and public life while supporting her husband’s NFL career.

Her latest update arrives as Matthew recently announced he will return for another season with the Los Angeles Rams. While the franchise will eventually need to plan for life after its veteran quarterback, for now, the focus inside the Stafford household appears much simpler: health, family, and small moments on the couch watching curling.

For fans, the hope is that this latest setback proves temporary – and that Kelly’s resilience once again carries her through.
