Canada’s curling gold came with controversy. By the time Jason Kelce got to it on his podcast on Wednesday, Robert Griffin III and Dave Portnoy already lit the internet on fire.
Kelce is a retired Philadelphia Eagles center and Super Bowl champion who cohosts the “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Travis. Griffin is a former NFL quarterback, while Portnoy founded Barstool Sports. They weighed in on Canada’s curling scandal at the Winter Olympics.

“Which, listen, you know my rule, if you ain’t cheat, you ain’t trying. They didn’t even get a deduction. They got a slap on the wrist after the deal. I don’t give a sh*t. I respect that. I like his reaction too. He knew he wasn’t supposed to be doing it. They call him. I was like, No, f*ck you! I didn’t cheat. No one, damn, he cheated.”

The scandal broke during Canada’s round-robin matchup versus Sweden when vice skip Marc Kennedy was accused of double-touching the rock. He erupted at the opposition when called out. World Curling issued a verbal warning.
Canada went on to defeat Great Britain 9-6 and claimed gold.
Robert Griffin III and Dave Portnoy reacted to the cheating scandal before Jason Kelce

Robert Griffin III and Dave Portnoy already went public with their takes days before Jason Kelce spoke. Griffin connected the curling scandal to Team Canada men’s hockey loss to the United States.
“Canada cheating to win curling gold cost them the Olympic Gold in Hockey. The ice don’t lie,” Griffin tweeted on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Portnoy replied to Curling Canada’s celebratory post on X.
“Newsflash @CurlingCanada nobody recognizes your gold medal. You are cheating lowlife liars. The entire world witnessed it,” Portnoy tweeted.
Canada captain Brad Jacobs fired back at critics after the victory.
“For anyone who called us cheaters, for anyone who said negative things about Marc Kennedy, about us, about Canada, about our families, I hope that the image of us standing on top of the podium, embracing one another, smiling ear to ear with our gold medals, is burned into your brain forever,” Jacobs said, via CBC.
