Cardi B and Stefon Diggs have apparently called it quits – and insiders say the split was driven by one recurring issue: trust.
According to sources cited by Us Magazine, supposedly close to the situation, the Grammy-winning rapper ended the relationship just days before the Super Bowl, where Diggs and the New England Patriots fell short. While the timing raised eyebrows, those familiar with the breakup say the problems had been building for months.
“He betrayed her so many times,” one insider is quoted as saying, adding that the relationship had been rocky long before championship weekend. Friends of the 33-year-old artist reportedly urged her to reconsider the romance, believing she deserved better.
“Cardi is single and putting herself out there again. She feels free,” she source also said.
Super Bowl weekend becomes a breaking point
Speculation intensified when the pair quietly unfollowed each other on Instagram during Super Bowl weekend. A high-profile postgame celebration that Cardi B had allegedly organized – complete with private flights, luxury suites and an afterparty – was abruptly canceled.
Fans also noticed a shift in her public demeanor. After enthusiastically celebrating the Patriots’ AFC Championship win in January, Cardi appeared distant on the day of the title game. When approached by an ESPN reporter for a supportive message to Diggs, her brief “Good luck” response – followed by a quick exit – fueled breakup rumors.
Behind the scenes, reports claim Diggs attempted to repair the damage with lavish gestures, including designer gifts and a reportedly $26,000 Rolex. The efforts, however, did little to change her stance. Those close to Cardi say she has “put up a wall” and considers herself single.
The couple’s relationship first became public in late 2024, months after Cardi filed for divorce from Offset, with whom she shares three children: Kulture, Wave and Blossom. By September 2025, Cardi revealed she and Diggs were expecting a child together, welcoming a baby boy in November.
Just two days after their son’s birth, reports surfaced that Diggs had fathered another child – a daughter named Charliee – with model Aileen Lopera, following a paternity test. The revelation added further strain to an already complicated dynamic.
Diggs is also currently facing legal troubles, having pleaded not guilty to felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges stemming from an alleged incident involving a former personal chef. While the case remains ongoing, insiders suggest the added scrutiny contributed to tensions between the two.
For now, Cardi appears focused on her career and motherhood. She is said to be prioritizing her upcoming tour and new music, determined to avoid distractions. Sources claim Diggs is permitted to see their son, though Cardi reportedly does not wish to be present during those visits.
Those close to the rapper say the decision, while difficult, ultimately brought her clarity. After a year marked by public highs and private turmoil, she is choosing stability over spectacle.
