IND vs WI: What India need to do to qualify for semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2026?

IND vs WI will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The Indian Cricket Team are all set to take on the West Indies Cricket Team in their most important clash of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The game between the two teams will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, March 1.

India come into the clash on the back of a solid performance against Zimbabwe. They registered a solid 72-run win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They had a decent start to their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, but faced a hiccup in the middle.

India faced a massive loss against South Africa in their opening game of the Super 8. The 76-run loss hampered India’s NRR big time and they were in a must-win situation against Zimbabwe, which thankfully they won by a big margin.

On the other hand, the West Indies enter the clash on the back of their big loss against South Africa. They were thrashed by nine wickets and are now also in a do-or-die situation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

What does India needs to do to qualify for the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026?

India are in a must-win situation yet again in the T20 World Cup 2026. They need to win against West Indies at any cost if they have to fancy their chances of qualifying for the semi-final of the tournament.

For India to qualify, the equation is very simple. If they beat the West Indies, they will go ahead and take on England in the semi-final. The match will take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5.

If they lose the match, India will be eliminated from the tournament and the West Indies will qualify. This means that India cannot afford to lose the game.  It remains to be seen how they will fare in the IND vs WI game.
