India all-rounder Hardik Pandya dismissed Sherfane Rutherford with a clever off-cutter in the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash against the West Indies. The match is being played on Sunday, March 1, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
The breakthrough came on the first delivery of the 15th over of the visitors’ innings. Hardik bowled an off-cutter angled across the left-hander. Rutherford looked to play a cheeky dab but only managed an outside edge through to the keeper, with Sanju Samson making no mistakes as Hardik claimed his first wicket of the game.

The southpaw scored 14 runs off nine balls, including a six. His dismissal left the West Indies at 119/4 after 14.1 overs.
India takes four wickets in the middle overs to bring the game back into balance
Asked to bat first, the West Indies opening pair of skipper Shai Hope and Roston Chase got off to a decent start, adding 45 runs in the powerplay. The duo went on to put together a 68-run opening partnership off 53 balls before Hope was dismissed by Varun Chakaravarthy for 32 from 33 balls, hitting three fours and one six.
Shimron Hetmyer came in at No. 3 and played a quick cameo, scoring 27 off 12 balls before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the 12th over. In the same over, Roston Chase was also dismissed for 40 off 25 balls.
Hardik Pandya then made an impact by removing Sherfane Rutherford for 14, as West Indies slipped from 68/0 to 119/4. Jason Holder and Rovman Powell subsequently took charge, raising the scoring rate. At the time of writing, West Indies were 163/4 after 17 overs, with Holder on 20 and Powell on 21.
Meanwhile, the winner of the match will advance to the semifinals, joining South Africa, England, and New Zealand.
