After one disastrous season, the Las Vegas Raiders and Geno Smith marriage is apparently over.
With the Raiders expected to draft Fernando Mendoza with the first-overall pick in April’s NFL Draft and a new coaching staff in place that wasn’t involved in acquiring Smith, the Raiders told the 12-year veteran he’ll be released if they can’t find a trade for him.
Smith was traded to and signed a two-year, $75 million contract with Vegas after a career resurgence with the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2025 season, but he went just 2-13 in 15 starts with the Raiders, throwing for 3,025 yards and 19 touchdowns with an NFL-most 17 interceptions.
