Tom Brady’s Las Vegas Raiders sent star defensive end Maxx Crosby in a trade involving two first-round picks. It marks the end of Crosby’s seven-year association with the Raiders.
According to Carlos A. Lopez, Brady’s former team, the New England Patriots never had a chance to acquire Maxx Crosby from the Raiders.
Thanks for the submission!
“One person involved in the trade made an interesting point about the Patriots’ chances at Crosby: ‘No way Tom [Brady] was sending Maxx to [Mike] Vrabel.'” Lopez wrote on X.

The New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys were among the favorites to land Maxx Crosby via a trade following the 2025 season. However, the Baltimore Ravens swooped in at the end to acquire the perennial Pro Bowler.
If the reports are accurate, Tom Brady has a significant say in the front office about who leaves and joins the Las Vegas Raiders. Plus, it adds to the rumors that Brady doesn’t want to do anything to help the team he won six Super Bowls with.
The Maxx Crosby trade is a deal that favors all the parties involved. Crosby is joining a contender after years of being a “Bugatti in a trailer park.” Tom Brady and the Raiders are getting two first-round picks for an aging star, and the Baltimore Ravens are getting one of the best defensive ends in football. As for the Patriots, they’ll have to look elsewhere for a game-wrecking pass rusher ahead of 2026.
Tom Brady’s Las Vegas Raiders are linked to Maxx Crosby’s replacement via the 2026 draft
Maxx Crosby was one of the steals of the 2019 NFL draft. The Raiders used a fourth-round pick to select a little-known prospect from Eastern Michigan. He’s gone on to become one of their most important players for just under a decade.
Tom Brady’s Raiders now have more ammo in their war chest ahead of the 2026 NFL draft. They’d be looking to use one of their picks to select the next Maxx Crosby.
Yahoo Sports has the Raiders doing just that by selecting Texas Tech edge rusher Romello Height in the fourth round. Height is fresh off racking up a career-best 10 sacks during his sixth collegiate campaign.
The former Red Raiders star is a decent athlete who is explosive off the edge. However, the team must put him on a plan to add some strength to his 6-3, 239-pound frame to avoid being frequently roughed up at the point of attack.
The Raiders are tipped to use their earlier draft picks on offensive talent. Snagging Height on Day 3 could be one of the steals of the draft.
