2026 Miami Open: Aryna Sabalenka and Jakub Mensik look to defend their titles in a stacked field

The 2026 Miami Open will witness some incredible tennis action. On the women’s singles end of things, Aryna Sabalenka will be looking to defend her title. At the 2025 edition of the event, the Belarusian had put up a dominant performance as she did not drop a single set en route to the finals where she outdid home favorite and long-time rival Jessica Pegula 7-5, 6-2 to win her eight WTA 1000 trophy.
This time around, Sabalenka enters the tournament as a strong contender to repeat her title-finish. Standing in her way will be the likes of Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Elina Svitolina and more. Rybakina is enjoying incredible form in 2026, having picked up her first trophy of the season at the Australian Open. Svitolina is also seeing an uptick in her performances in recent tournaments, and while Gauff and Swiatek have both struggled to perform at their best in the last few weeks, neither can be counted out.
The men’s singles event will see Jakub Mensik enter as the reigning champion. The Czech star delivered a breakthrough performance at the Miami Open last year, but his path to a title defense will prove to be incredibly difficult. Standing in his way will be the likes of World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, Italy’s Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. Alcaraz has gone undefeated in 2026 so far and will be eager to keep that streak alive, while Sinner tries to outdo his rival and Djokovic guns for his first title of the season.
