Chelsea to face competition from Premier League rivals for U-21 Bundesliga winger: Reports

Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing FC Koln winger Said El Mala. The Blues see the 19-year-old as the ideal signing for the squad after his impressive Bundesliga season.

According to Kicker (via Tribal Football), Chelsea are keen on adding a left-winger who can play down the middle as well. They see the FC Koln star as the perfect and have been scouting him this season.

He has scored nine goals and assisted thrice in 26 Bundesliga matches, despite starting just 12 games. Newcastle United are also chasing the winger and are said to be pushing to get the German teenager.

The report comes just days after former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Brighton were leading the race and said:

“Brighton have a good record of unearthing this type of talent. They looked at making a move in January but that didn’t happen, now there are going to be other clubs in the Premier League and abroad in the summer. They will have a figure in mind that they are willing to pay, a price they can make an offer at and then one as high as they might be tempted to go.”

“The problem will come if a team like Bayern Munich come in with the financial power they have, they could make a huge offer. They could blow Brighton out of the water, and there’s not too much that can be done about that because that’s just how football works, there’s a hierarchy. Brighton aren’t going to pay more than what they’re prepared to, and if that means moving on to other targets if that price gets too high, then so be it.”

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Manchester United have also been linked with El Mala. The teenager is yet to pick his next club, nor have FC Koln set a price tag on him.

Chelsea looking to sign left-winger a year after signing two players

Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing a left-winger, just months after getting Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens. Neither winger has impressed at the club and they are now interested in signing a player who can come in and do well.

The Blues have Geovany Quenda signed, but the London side are still keen on getting another winger signed this summer. Moreover, their main winger this season, Pedro Neto, has been linked with a move to Barcelona at the end of the season.
