Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is set to begin a new chapter with the Philadelphia Eagles, but his path to the NFC contender was far from straightforward.
The wide receiver recently revealed that he came close to returning to the Baltimore Ravens, the franchise that originally drafted him, before ultimately deciding on Philadelphia.
Brown, a first-round pick in 2019, spent the first three seasons of his NFL career in Baltimore before requesting a trade that sent him to the Arizona Cardinals.
At the time, he cited dissatisfaction with the offensive system as a key factor behind his departure.

“I was really considering going back to Baltimore,” Brown said on the Speakeasy podcast. “I got good relationships there. I really let my agent handle it until it got down to what it got down to. This is my second time in free agency, so I kinda don’t want the small talk. I let him deal with it. When it got down to who really wants me, who he thinks is really showing interest, then I want to talk and get involved.”
The comments shed light on how close the situation may have been, even if Brown stopped short of detailing exactly how negotiations unfolded. Baltimore’s evolving offensive identity, now shaped by head coach Jesse Minter and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, appears to have played a role in rekindling his interest.
