WrestleMania 42 ticket sales witness sudden surge; legendary WWE star’s rumored return is the reason

WrestleMania 42 tickets reportedly received a huge boost following a huge promo earlier this week. It was all about a legendary WWE Superstar, who has been rumored to be appearing in the biggest event of the year.

On March 16, WWE held the Stone Cold Steve Austin 3:16 promo to celebrate The Texas Rattlesnake’s day. The company slashed 31.6% off tickets for WrestleMania, televised events and house shows. There were also special items and merchandise.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Austin 3:16 Day was a huge success. Austin’s brand and name recognition remain popular, with Meltzer believing that both Night 1 and 2 of WrestleMania 42 will likely sell out.

“Instead of being like 18% behind, they’re like 11% behind last year. Interest level is still, you know, secondary market level is way down from last year. But you know, it’s 40,000 now roughly for each night. They got a month to get to 50 (thousand). I think they will, you know, and if they need to paper, they will. It’s going to be full. I mean, I said that even when it was slagging, it’ll end up being full. That’s not the problem,” Meltzer said. [H/T Ringside News]

Is Stone Cold Steve Austin going to be at WrestleMania 42?

Stone Cold Steve Austin was at last year’s WrestleMania, announcing the attendance for Night 2. However, Austin had an accident, ramming his ATV into the barricade that overshadowed his segment.

Speaking to Busted Open Radio last week, Austin doesn’t know yet if he’ll be at WrestleMania 42. He wants to return, though it seems like he’s not interested in having another match. His last match was four years ago at WrestleMania 38, beating Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred Match.

Austin also lives in Nevada, so he’s in proximity to the event. It will be interesting to see if The Texas Rattlesnake makes his presence felt at The Grandest Stage of Them All next month.
