Andy Reid steps away from the Chiefs and the NFL to embark on a surprising path

As NFL players and coaches take advantage of their free time during the offseason, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is no exception. While he continues working on reshaping his roster, he is also dedicating time to other pursuits beyond football.

With the knowledge that Travis Kelce will return for the 2026 season and that Patrick Mahomes is progressing through rehabilitation to be ready for what lies ahead, along with the arrival of Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, the team is beginning to take shape once again.

After a disastrous 2025 campaign, that chapter has been left behind, and the organization is now focused on turning 2026 into a completely different story. With that mindset in place, Reid has found room in his schedule to engage in other activities.

Andy Reid will appear on television

This past Saturday, March 22, 2026, the Chiefs’ head coach announced that he will be appearing on television, as he is set to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a guest narrator for a special event scheduled for July 5.

On that date, the United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary, and Reid is expected to address themes such as:

I spent more than a decade just down the road from Independence Hall [in Philadelphia], where our Founding Fathers put pen to paper on the Declaration of Independence.”…”They were the ultimate team – facing adversity, staying the course, and building something that has endured for 250 years. I’m honored to join The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square to celebrate the birth of our nation in a place that reflects the same spirit of unity and faith.

Andy Reid said recently in an interview with the newsroom of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Reid joined this church while studying at Brigham Young University, where he was also part of the football team as an offensive tackle and guard until 1981. He has consistently spoken about the three essential pillars in his life:

If I’m not doing football or family, then I’m not doing anything.”… “I’m not a golfer. I don’t go fishing or all that stuff. It’s either family or football or church.

Andy Reid said during an interview with the Deseret News back in 2024.

The coach spent 14 years in Philadelphia, and during that time, he also joined the choir. This only reinforces how deeply he values his faith and his connection to his church, something he makes clear whenever he has the opportunity, balancing his professional responsibilities with personal convictions and community involvement.
