An Elland Road favourite is now eyeing up a shock exit away from Leeds United this summer, with Daniel Farke‘s latest snub proving to be his final straw.

Farke outlines how Leeds will “definitely” avoid relegation

On paper, a 0-0 draw against Brentford looks like a disappointing result for Leeds at Elland Road, but after Tottenham Hotspur lost to Nottingham Forest and West Ham United lost against Aston Villa, it is certainly a point that the Yorkshire club will welcome with open arms.

As far as Farke is concerned, it was simply one point closer to confirmed safety on Saturday night, even if it meant six games without a win for his side in the Premier League.

The Leeds boss told reporters at full-time: “We are one point closer. Six to eight points would be enough to stay in the top flight.

“Now we have to win five to seven points. This will do. It means we need to win two games, or we need (to win) one game and a few draws, or whatever. If we draw from now on each every game, I will take it, because with 40 points, you definitely stay in this league.”

If those at Elland Road want to avoid final-day nerves then they must secure their safety before facing West Ham in their last game of the season. The last thing that they will want is for their Premier League fate to be on the line against a direct rival.

At this stage of the season, meanwhile, Farke clearly has his trusted side. It’s been clear ever since he switched to a back five, but as positive as that change has been, it has also resulted in a number of exit rumours.

According to TeamTalk, Tanaka is ready to seal an exit away from Leeds this summer after being snubbed for a starting place yet again against Brentford on Saturday.

The midfielder has gone from one of Farke’s most important players in the Championship to a player who has featured in just one of the last eight Premier League games. And it seems as though that recent run could be his final straw, amid reports that the Elland Road favourite is now unhappy.

The Japanese midfielder was among the most reliable players at Leeds just one season ago, but could now leave the club this summer amid interest from Schalke, Hannover and Union Berlin in Germany.
