    The Los Angeles Dodgers’ quest for a three-peat starts on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. The two divisional rivals will play a three-game series in LA.

    The Dodgers and the D-backs have had contrasting recent seasons. After beating Los Angeles in the NL Division Series in 2023, Arizona failed to make the postseason the last two times. In those years, the Dodgers rebounded from a string of playoff disappointments to turn two World Series rings.

    The Dodgers’ lineup, already one of the greatest assembled in the history of the sport, added a new piece, Kyle Tucker, to their lineup in the offseason. He will hope for a good start to his tenure in Los Angeles.

    Over on the Arizona side, Nolan Arenado will get his first start for the D-backs after his trade from the Cardinals. While certainly the inferior lineup on paper, some of their at-bats can single-handedly turn the tide for them.

    But the Diamondbacks’ biggest challenge will be facing Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing World Baseball Classic exit with Team Japan. Zac Gallen has a lot to prove this season. He was named as Opening Day starter by Arizona after signing a single-year contract in the offseason.

    Shohei Ohtani and co. are expected to steamroll Arizona in the season opener. Their strong home record at Dodger Stadium is a contributing factor to the lopsided odds. Expect Arizona to put up a fight, but the Dodgers are likely to clear them by a margin.
