Iga Swiatek to seek Rafael Nadal’s help to revive career, new unnamed coach joining team soon: Reports

Iga Swiatek has sought help from Rafael Nadal following her decision to part ways with coach Wim Fissette. The move comes after her early exit at the Miami Open, capping off what has been a turbulent phase for the Pole.

It hasn’t been the smoothest start to 2026 for Swiatek. She suffered quarterfinal exits at the Australian Open and the Qatar Open, while her Sunshine Double campaign also fell short of expectations with another quarterfinal run at the Indian Wells Masters before losing to Magda Linette in her Miami opener.

All of this culminated in her decision to split with Fissette, which she confirmed via Instagram. Swiatek expressed gratitude for their time together but stated it was time to move on, while also clarifying that the rest of her team remains “unchanged.”

“After many months of working together with my coach @fissettewim I’ve decided to take a different path. It was an intense time full of challenges and many important experiences. I’m grateful for his support, experience, and everything we achieved together,” Swiatek wrote.

“The rest of my team remains unchanged. I know there are many questions, but I’ll let you know what’s next at the right time. I’m taking a moment to take care of myself, process this experience, and prepare for a new chapter,” she added.

Now, as per reports from Przeglad Sportowy Onet, Iga Swiatek’s future plans include traveling to Mallorca soon to prepare for the claycourt season at the Rafael Nadal Academy. She is expected to be accompanied by a candidate who is being considered as her new coach.

The information largely comes via Alexandra Eala’s current coach, Joan Bosch, who has requested the academy to arrange a training session with the six-time Grand Slam champion upon her arrival. Eala also endured a disappointing campaign in Miami, losing in the fourth round to Karolina Muchova.

Iga Swiatek linked with Caroline Wozniacki’s father & Maria Sharapova’s ex-coach in coaching hunt

Right after Iga Swiatek parted ways with Wim Fissette, reports emerged suggesting she had already zeroed in on her next coach. It was claimed that Caroline Wozniacki’s father, Piotr Wozniacki, would take up the role.

However, Piotr was quick to shut down the speculation, stating that the rumors were false and reiterating that he is no longer involved in coaching.

“I definitely won’t be Iga swiatek’s new coach,” Piotr told Interia Sport. “Someone passed this by. No one talked to me. And even if they did, I’d finished my coaching career.”

Then, it was also reported by Sport.pl that the Pole has decided to join hands with Michael Joyce, who has previously coached the likes of Maria Sharapova, Jessica Pegula, and Victoria Azarenka. During his time with Sharapova, he guided her to three Grand Slam titles and helped her reach the World No. 1 ranking.

While it remains unconfirmed whether Joyce will travel with Iga Swiatek to Mallorca, her immediate focus will be on the clay-court swing. She is set to kick things off at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart from April 13.
