Tiger Woods moves away from golf to focus on health
Tiger Woods has announced that he is stepping away from the game to focus on treatment and prioritize health. The golfing royalty released an official statement regarding his official withdrawal from the Masters.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” he wrote. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
The 15-time major champion also made it clear that he was not contending for the US captaincy in the Ryder Cup 2027. The PGA of America released an official statement stating that it respected Woods’ decision and wished him better health.
“Tiger has meant so much to our Association and to the game of golf. Since his Ryder Cup debut in 1997, he has been an enduring part of the PGA of America family. His connection to our PGA of America Golf Professionals, and his lasting impact on the sport, have inspired generations and profoundly shaped the game,” the PGA of America wrote.
Woods was last seen at the TGL, where he played the second final of the series. However, his team, Jupiter Links GC faced a tough defeat against LAGC and lost both finals.
