IPL 2026: CSK player ratings vs RCB as Gaikwad & Co. get carted around the Chinnaswamy to lose three on the trot

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost their third successive game in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, April 5. They lost by 43 runs to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

After winning the toss, Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first. Although the first innings started well for the visitors, it soon went pear-shaped as RCB amassed an imposing 250/3. The Super Kings fell well short after losing three wickets in the powerplay.

On that note, here are CSK’s player ratings from their IPL 2026 clash against RCB.

    Sanju Samson: 1/10

Samson’s woes continued as he nicked off against Jacob Duffy. The CSK opener doesn’t seem to be at his energetic best, and his wicket-keeping was a touch lethargic too.

    Ruturaj Gaikwad: 1/10

Gaikwad is enduring one of his worst seasons from both the batting and the captaincy angles. The CSK skipper was caught at slip in the very first over, and his bowling changes defied logic.

    Ayush Mhatre: 2/10

Mhatre couldn’t make an impact this time at the Chinnaswamy as he spooned a gentle catch inside the circle. It wasn’t his day.

    Sarfaraz Khan: 8/10

Sarfaraz played positively right from the outset and made a sparkling half-century. He seems keen on grabbing every chance he gets across formats.

    Shivam Dube: 5/10

Dube hit a few boundaries and picked up a wicket, but it wasn’t a great performance from the all-rounder. He dropped a catch early in the first innings and leaked runs in his second over thanks to a bunch of loose deliveries to Devdutt Padikkal.

    Jamie Overton: 6/10

Overton tried his best in both departments. He bowled two good overs but was carted around the park for 30 runs by Tim David in his third. The Englishman struck a few boundaries to give CSK an outside chance in the chase.

    Khaleel Ahmed: 6/10

Khaleel started well in the powerplay, beating the bat and creating a chance against Virat Kohli. His figures were ruined by his last over slightly, and his fielding was as always ordinary.

    Noor Ahmad: 2/10

Noor had another poor showing. He often lost his lengths and didn’t extract any purchase from the surface. CSK will be concerned about his form.

    Kartik Sharma [IP]: 3/10

Kartik too endured another failure. Coming in as the impact player, he attempted a slog sweep off Krunal Pandya but only managed a top-edge. The youngster needs to do better.

    Anshul Kamboj: 5/10

For the most part, Kamboj did the right things. He bowled better than his figures of 1/52 suggest, but his no-ball was costly and he could have been more precise with his plans.

    Matt Henry: 3/10

Henry’s nightmare record in the IPL continued in Bengaluru. He was carted for 36 runs in three wicketless overs and didn’t offer much at any phase of the innings.

    Prashant Veer: 6.5/10

Veer strangely wasn’t used with the ball once again. He tried his best with a 43-run knock, but his limitations against both styles of bowling were clear.
