    “Apologize to him”- Fans react as Jin confirms RUNJIN tour schedule was set ahead of recording, limiting his additions to BTS album

    On April 15, 2026, Rolling Stone published a solo interview with BTS’ Jin as part of the group’s comeback coverage for their album ARIRANG. During the conversation with Brian Hiatt, Jin said that his RUNJIN tour had already been scheduled before the group began planning the album’s recording sessions.

    BTS’ Jin explained that the album’s writing camp and studio work were scheduled only a few months in advance. His earlier commitments made it difficult for him to fully get involved from the start.

    By the time he joined, a large number of songs had already been prepared. He said pushing the timeline to include more of his own work would have delayed the album. At the same time, he said the other members did a good job with the material.

    When Brian Hiatt asked:

    “The album (ARIRANG) is so good, but imagine how much better it would be if it had just a few more writing credits by you!”

    Jin replied:

    “I do think it would have been better. But the other members did a beautiful job. Plus, if I had been greedy and pushed the whole session just so I could add my own songs, this interview would be happening months from now. Wouldn’t the fans be too bored during that time? The recording was scheduled about three months in advance, and my tour was scheduled earlier than that. So the timing just didn’t work out.”

    Clips from the interview soon circulated on X. Jin’s response pushed back against claims that he prioritized solo work over the BTS comeback. Fans are defending him and pointing to scheduling overlap. They are also calling out selective interpretations within the fandom.

    Other than the album discussion, Jin also spoke about how he approached his solo activities during BTS’ military hiatus. He said those projects were meant to keep fans engaged during the group’s break. He described stepping on stage alone as something he had never imagined before. He said that the fans’ response helped him continue.

    Jin also shared his thoughts on solo work in general. In the Rolling Stone interview, he said:

    “I’ve always thought there’s no reason to continue if it’s not with the group. I guess a solo career is just not that important to me. If I did anything, it would be trying something different within the group when the fans are bored. I’m not interested in acting or anything like that.”

    Moreover, he shared that after their time apart, he wanted the group to reach more fans worldwide. He said:

    “My biggest dream has been to go on tour with BTS and meet as many fans as I can, from all over the world.”

    BTS will perform tomorrow, on April 17, at Tokyo Dome in Japan. They will perform at the venue on April 18 as well.
