Toronto host Atlanta United at the BMO Field in MLS on Saturday, aiming for just their fourth win of the league season. It’s been a rough start for the Reds so far, winning just thrice from nine games, but they have lost only twice too.
With 13 points in the bag, the Canadian outfit are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference table.
Thanks for the submission!
Having begun their campaign with back-to-back defeats to FC Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps, Toronto have gone the next seven without a loss. But their last three have ended in draws: 1-1 vs Cincinnati, and 3-3 each vs Austin and Philadelphia Union, as their defensive approach has been lackadaisical.
In fact, they have conceded 17 goals from nine games, averaging almost two per game as only four teams have shipped in more: New York Red Bulls (23), Cincinnati (23), Orlando City (26), and Montreal (20).
By contrast, Atlanta United are languishing at the bottom of the standings with just one win so far, a 3-1 defeat of Philadelphia Union on 15 March. Goals have once again been hard to come by as the Five Stripes have mustered only seven from nine, which is less than a goal per game. They have failed to score in five of their nine MLS games so far, raising serious concerns over their offensive qualities.
Having finished a lowly 14th in the regular season last year, Atlanta are facing similar issues again in 2026 with no end in sight.
