Club América Femenil defeated the Washington Spirit 5-3 on Saturday to win the 2025-26 Concacaf W Champions Cup title.

Brazilian forward Geyse scored twice for América in a wild game that saw the Spirit erase a 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2 before conceding another three unanswered goals.

Irene Guerrero scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute, and América captain Scarlett Camberos added a fifth goal in second-half stoppage time.

The victory clinched América a berth in the 2027 FIFA Champions Cup and the 2028 Club World Cup alongside Barcelona, who won the European title earlier Saturday.

América won the Liga MX Femenil Clausura title on Sunday before defeating reigning NWSL champions Gotham FC 4-1 in Wednesday’s semifinal and then defeating the Spirit in Saturday’s final to clinch the women’s team’s first international trophy.

Aylín Aviléz put América ahead in the 22nd minute when she finished a pass from Camberos, and Brazilian forward Geyse doubled the lead five minutes later.

Spirit forward Sofia Cantore answered with a long-range goal in the 30th minute to keep the game close.

Washington forward Rosemonde Kouassi then scored seconds after halftime and ahead in the 58th minute to give her team the lead. It lasted only three minutes.

Spirit goalkeeper Sandy MacIver carelessly dribbled in front of her own net and Geyse pressured her and deflected a clearance into the goal for the equalizer.

Second-half substitute Guerrero scored the go-ahead goal 18 minutes later, and Camberos added a fifth on a feed from Geyse in stoppage time.

Camberos was named player of the tournament.

Kouassi won the top scorer of the tournament with six goals.

The Spirit, who were runners-up in the NWSL each of the past two seasons, will hope to qualify for the 2027 Concacaf W Champions Cup. The winner of that will also qualify for the inaugural Club World Cup in 2028.

“I think we are going to learn from this and we will keep getting in finals and, for sure, we will win finals in the future,” Spirit head coach Adrián González said.
