A huge victory for India in the Tests. They have defeated Afghanistan in New Chandigarh by an innings and a 300-run margin. It is Team India’s biggest win in their Test cricket history by Innings, runs, and wickets.
It was a one-off Test between these two nations, and the host, Team India, was the favorite to win it. Still, cricket fans expected decent resistance from the touring team. Under the scoring sun, Shubman Gill and his boy thrived from Day 1 to till the conclusion of the match on Day 3.
The first innings total of 564 runs proved more than enough to defeat Afghanistan in the match. In the first innings, Hashmatullah Shahidi-led team got 152 runs, and in the second, their total was only 112. Debutant spinner Manav Suthar claims 7 wickets in total.

Team India dominated from the beginning of the one-off Test
From Day 1, the pitch at the Maharaja Singh PCA Stadium looked dry and turned more spin-friendly as the match progressed. Taking a look at the surface, Shubman Gill did not take time to take bat first as soon as he won the toss.
Over the years, Afghanistan has produced multiple quality spinners like Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed, and Mohammad Nabi. But this newly shaped Afghanistan playing eleven lacked quality across the departments against the power-packed home side.
Because of the follow on, visitors got another chance to protect their pride in the second innings, but it turned out more disastrous for them. In both of the innings, the Indian spinners thoroughly enjoyed the typical subcontinent conditions.
The emerging spinner Manav Suthar turned the first innings into his exclusive exhibition for displaying his bowling skills. Breaking multiple records, Suthar claimed 6 wickets in exchange for 33 runs only.
In the second innings, the two other spinners in the line-up, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav, bagged 4 and 3 scalps, respectively.

Batters also did their jobs precisely in the first innings
Before the spinners, it was the batters who put Afghanistan under immense pressure first. Batting first, India scored 564 runs for 8 wickets and declared the innings. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill scored a century each, and Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant played 81-run knocks each. Washington Sundar also registered a half-century to contribute with the bat. It is a crucial win for the team, as it will improve their points tally in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
