Raced in the pro peloton for the last 5 years, the next-generation Kask Utopia Y aero road helmet gets a subtle update inside & out for improved comfort, a more secure fit, and new look. Mixing race-ready aerodynamics with carefully-designed ventilation, the Utopia claims to be the perfect balance for anyone looking to go fast.
Kask Utopia Y vented aero road bike helmet
Developed with Team Sky who first raced the Utopia at the Tour Down Under in 2018, the team’s latest INEOS Grenadiers evolution is still racing with the latest version of Kask’s top aero road bike helmet whenever absolute speed is their priority. And now they get a fit & finish upgrade, too.
What’s new?
The actual multi-part aero polycarbonate shell and in-mold EPS foam structure remain untouched.
But Kask reworked the breathable lining for improved comfort. Already loved for its ability to wick sweat away from the rider’s head, the thick soft breathable Resistex Carbon padding actually gets much bigger inside the new Utopia Y. The Resistex Carbon liner now extends all the way across the front of the helmet – from temple to temple – to help wick sweat away from the forehead and keep it from dripping down into your eyes or the back of sunglass lenses.
Then, the new Utopia Y gets upgrade retention, moving to Kask’s new top Octofit+ adjustment system that better cradles the occipital base of the rider’s head, extending further down the nape of the neck for improved stability. The new retention also features a larger rubber-covered dial for easier adjustment, and pairs with Kask’s lightweight webbing strap and soft synthetic leather chin strap.
Updated Kask Utopia Y look – Pricing & availability
The updated Kask Utopia Y comes in the same three sizes (S-L) with a 260g claimed weight (M). It is EN, CPSC & AS/NZS certified and was designed to exceed Kask’s own WG11 rotational impact testing protocols for maximum cyclist safety. Now the aero road helmet adds more low-key reflective graphics to boost rider visibility out on the road, and is available in more subdued colors – classic matte white or matte black, plus shiny gloss white, gray, red, Oxford blue, and black.
It also still retails for the same $300 / 275€, available now worldwide.
