Things got a little heated when the Indiana Fever took down the Phoenix Mercury on Monday night.
Caitlin Clark had another strong outing, dropping 24 points with nine assists to help her team snap a two-game skid with an 86-77 win.
However, the Iowa product was far from satisfied, as she was tabbed with yet another technical foul after a late-game altercation with Mercury star DeWanna Bonner.
That’s why, following the game, Clark made sure to give the referees a piece of her mind, and she didn’t hold back on her criticism of the officials.
Caitlin Clark complains about latest technical foul
“Yeah, it’s ridiculous,” Clark said. “I got a technical for clapping. So, we should all just go on the calendar now and pick a game that I’m gonna be suspended for if I’m gonna get technicals for clapping. (The referee) said I got a technical for clapping. If any technical should be taken away, it should be that one if it’s truly for clapping. That’s what they said they gave it to me for. So, it’s just ridiculous. I don’t understand it at all.”
Clark was called for a foul on Bonner in the fourth quarter, with Sophie Cunningham, Myisha Hines-Allen and Alyssa Thomas then drawing technical fouls each following a minor scuffle.
This was Clark’s fifth technical foul of the WNBA season, meaning she’s now three away from a one-game suspension.
She’s always been unapologetically passionate, and she’s made it loud and clear that she won’t change the way she carries herself on the court.
Of course, those comments are more than likely to leave a big hole in her pocket with a hefty fine, but she clearly needed to get some things off her chest.
