Merchants are the most convenient way of getting useful upgrades in Palworld besides crafting and looting. While they aren’t anything new, with the 1.0 update, all of them have received adjustments to the inventory and increased spawn rate, giving you a better early-game experience. However, with so many categories, which ones do you need to look out for?
To make things simple, we made a tier list to highlight the best merchants in Palworld based on how often you’ll find yourself visiting them.
Note: The list is subjective and based on the writer’s opinion.
Best Merchants in Palworld 1.0 update

Here are some of the merchants that you need to look out for:
S-tier merchants
- Wandering Merchant (red coat): Featuring some of the best items in the game, the Wandering Merchant brings legendary blueprints, high-level Pal Spheres, and various late-game items following the 1.0 update. You can find one at the Small Settlement (73,-485).
- Medal Merchant: One of the closest Medal Merchants you’ll find in the game is at the Desolate Church around (63,-416). He sells you additional accessory slots along with Ripe Starfruit that can improve your Pal’s rank. The merchant also has some Fruits and Elixrs that can come in handy.
- Gourmet: Having a consistent food supply will make things much easier in Palworld. And the Gourmet brings a variety of items that improve your damage and defense. They are a rare spawn and can visit your base like the Wandering Merchant.

A-tier merchants
- Black Marketeer: The Black Marketeer deals in exotic Pals, including the ones that only spawn within the Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s worth checking out his inventory whenever you come across one. The only reason it’s not on S-tier is that the appearance of rare Pals is RNG-based. They also spawn at several locations, one of which is near the Desolate Church in an Abandoned Mine (35, -420).
- Pharmacist: Over time, you’ll be able to craft Recovery Grenade and Boost Gun for your Pals, but until then, the Pharmacist sells you a variety of useful items to keep your Pals’ health and Sanity in check.
- Material Merchant: As the name suggests, this one sells you items that usually drop from various Pals. Having resources at hand cuts down a lot of grind and speeds up the process.
B-tier merchants
- Arena Merchant: If you’re looking to try different Skills, then check the inventory of the Arena Merchant (629,15). He has a variety of fruits, along with certain Impants, a Pal reverser, and various Whistle accessories to increase Pal damage.
- Ammo/Arms Merchant: After crafting weapons from blueprints, you’ll also need ammo. And without unlocking them in the Technology Tree, you can either farm them from a chest or take the easy route and buy them from the Ammo Merchants using gold, which is far easier to farm.
There are a few more Merchants in the game, but throughout your journey, those mentioned in the tier list are the ones we found to have almost every item we need.
