Matt Cardona shares message after major SmackDown personal revelation

Matt Cardona sent a message following his appearance on WWE SmackDown this past Friday night. Cardona returned to the company earlier this year after spending some time on the independent wrestling scene.

Cardona is married to Chelsea Green in real life, and he showed up on SmackDown to defend her honor. Gunther interrupted Green’s promo this past Friday night and suggested that her issues as WWE Women’s Champion didn’t matter. Matt Cardona rushed to the ring and got in The Ring General’s face.

Gunther mocked the veteran and suggested that he could insult Green and Cardona would do nothing about it. Cardona attacked the former World Heavyweight Champion, leading to a singles match that Gunther won.

Cardona took to social media today to react to being acknowledged as The Hot Mess’ husband, and you can check out his message in the post below.

“.@ImChelseaGreen has been my wife since 2021, but now it’s officially @WWE canon. 😉,” he wrote.

Rhea Ripley won the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42 but is now out of action with a major knee injury. Green captured the title by winning a ladder match at SummerSlam, but suffered a broken orbital on the following episode of SmackDown. Nick Aldis informed the 35-year-old that she had a month to get cleared before she would have to relinquish the title during their promo this past Friday night on the blue brand.

Former WWE writer reveals he would have booked Matt Cardona differently

Wrestling legend Road Dogg claimed that he would have booked Matt Cardona differently if he were still with the company.

Road Dogg surprisingly departed the promotion earlier this year. The Hall of Famer took to social media to send a message to Cardona last month and suggested that if he were still a part of the creative team, he would have the former champion competing as Zack Ryder.

“If I was booking, they’d know her name and you’d still be Zack Ryder Maybe IC champ,” he wrote.

It will be interesting to see what the promotion has planned for Matt Cardona moving forward following his loss to Gunther on SmackDown.
