Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Napoli in their midweek Champions League fixture and are back in Premier League action on Sunday as they face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on matchday four.
Mikel Arteta’s men will be looking to continue their strong start to the campaign in which they have won all their matches so far across competitions. Both their away wins this season have been by a 1-0 margin.
Here is how the Gunners are expected to line-up for the upcoming clash.
Goalkeeper – David Raya is the favourite to keep his place in between the sticks ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Defenders – Ben White could keep his place in the back four at right back with Jurrien Timber yet to be fully fit, but a change could occur at left back as Riccardo Calafiori might replace Piero Hincapie. Gabriel Magalhaes and Ezri Konsa could round off an unchanged pairing in the heart of the backline for the away side.
Tzolis back, Havertz to lead the line
Midfielders – Declan Rice is set to start once more in the double pivot but Mikel Merino might return to the bench as Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has emerged as a first-choice option in recent week, is likely to come back into the fray in midfield. Martin Odegaard, the match-winner last weekend against Chelsea and at Napoli on Wednesday, is expected to start as the number 10.
Bukayo Saka may also continue to feature in the starting eleven as the right winger but Eberechi Eze could drop out of the team with £34 million summer signing Christos Tzolis expected to play on the left flank.
Forward – Kai Havertz is expected to lead the line for Arsenal, replacing Viktor Gyokeres in the process.
