Rohit Sharma’s forgetfulness has led to some funny moments on several occasions. Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar recently shared another such incident about the star batter’s habit of forgetting things.
Nayar revealed how a 17-year-old Sharma once came to the stadium for an important match without his kit bag and later gave an implausible excuse. The 42-year-old said on Sony’s new show, Family Full House With Rohit Sharma:
“You all know that Rohit is forgetful. I will tell you where this story started in cricket. He was a youngster and got selected for the first time in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team. It was an important match; our friend, who was just 17 at the time, came to the stadium for the match without his kit bag.
“Yeh shaatir tab se the (He was smart since then). When asked about his kit bag, he said, ‘I was coming by train, someone pushed me, and the kit bag fell outside,'” he added.
Notably, Nayar is set to feature in the first episode of Sharma’s new game show. He will be joined by Shardul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer. It will kick off on September 19 and will mark the star cricketer’s hosting debut.
On the cricketing front, Team India will lock horns with Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series in Delhi, beginning Sunday, September 13. Sharma has already retired from T20Is and Tests but remains a key part of the ODI side.

Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur’s dance video on the ‘Sehri Babu’ song went viral on social media a few years back. Sony TV posted a promo for Sharma’s show, in which the trio was seen recreating the popular dance step.

Sharma was last seen in action during India’s three-match ODI series against England in July. The veteran opener’s form came under scrutiny after he registered scores of 11 and 26 in the first two games. He bounced back with a stunning 138-run knock off 110 balls in the third fixture, becoming the first Indian batter to slam an ODI ton at Lord’s.
