The best way to get the Steel and Sons exotic Rifle is from the Broken Rain. This item was added with the Y8S2.3 Title Update when the second Incursion went live on August 11, 2026.
You have a 1% drop chance for the Steel and Sons exotic Rifle from the Iris Steel and Marguerite Steel bosses. Additionally, the locked chest in the final room can be unlocked once per week with the Steel Creek Cypher Fragment, and that has a 10% drop chance for this exotic Rifle.
Another limited-time method of obtaining this exotic firearm is the Red Moon Rising event boss, the XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder class quadcopter. You have a 1.47% chance to obtain Steel and Sons as a reward.

Weapon attributes
The Steel and Sons in The Division 2 comes equipped with two core attributes and one secondary attribute featuring a randomized stat:

Steel and Sons exotic Rifle’s weapon talent is called Shakedown. Let’s take a look at its effect:
- Body shots add 1 stack to the enemy for 10s. Max stacks: 4. Hitting a different enemy removes all stacks.
- This weapon deals +4% Amplified Damage per stack.
- Your next headshot on an enemy with stacks consumes all stacks, dealing +11% Amplified Damage per stack.
- Destroying an enemy’s weakpoint causes them to take +30% Amplified Damage from you for 5s.
This weapon talent requires players to hit body shots to build up stacks. Then hit a headshot to clear those stacks and get amplified damage. This goes well with the updated Breaking Point gear set and can be combined with Overdogs exotic gloves, Fox’s Prayer named kneepads, or Equalizer named chest piece.
