Team India has arrived in Guwahati ahead of the second ODI against West Indies, scheduled for September 30 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium. The squad made the trip from Thiruvananthapuram, where India sealed a commanding eight-wicket victory in the series opener on September 27.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared the squad’s arrival on its official X account in the late hours of Monday, September 28. The BCCI shared shots of the entire squad making their way out of the airport in Guwahati ahead of the second ODI, which will be played on Wednesday.
Barsapara Cricket Stadium set to host the series decider
The venue, officially named Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium and also known as Barsapara Cricket Stadium or ACA Stadium, is located in Barsapara, Guwahati, Assam. Established in 2012, it is owned by the Assam Cricket Association and holds 46,000 spectators. The ground hosted its first men’s ODI on October 21, 2018, when India faced West Indies, making the upcoming fixture a return of the same fixture at the same venue.
Should India win on September 30, they will seal the ODI series 2-0 before the third and final ODI, which is scheduled for October 3 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. The West Indies tour of India runs from September 27 to October 17, 2026, and also includes five T20 Internationals after the ODI leg concludes.
Much of the attention surrounding the squad’s arrival centres on Virat Kohli, who produced an unbeaten 139 in the first ODI at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. Kohli and India captain Shubman Gill put West Indies’ bowling under sustained pressure as India chased down a target of 296 with ease.
The visitors had posted 295 for 7, batting first in that opener. Justin Greaves struck a maiden ODI century, John Campbell contributed 62 and Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 58. Despite that competitive total, India reached 300 for 2 in 41.4 overs, completing the win with 50 balls to spare.
India now lead the three-match ODI series 1-0. The Caribbeans, captained by Shai Hope, must win in Guwahati to keep the series alive.
