    NJPW and AEW have a strong working relationship. AEW star Konosuke Takeshita recently wrestled at Destruction in Kobe. The event took place on September 27 and featured many high-profile matches. Unfortunately, Takeshita suffered a huge loss.

    The Alpha entered Destruction in Kobe as the NJPW World Television Champion. However, he was dethroned by his challenger, Shun Skywalker. This was one of the best bouts of the show. Interestingly, the new champion revealed in a recent interview with Tokyo Sports that he is considering relinquishing the gold and leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling. He believes that he has achieved all his goals in the Japanese promotion.

    “I’ve already achieved the goal I set for myself upon returning from Tenku. I’m considering immediately returning this title—which is like a bonus I never really needed in the first place—and I’m wondering if I have any further business with New Japan Pro-Wrestling,”

    He continued,

    “I easily won the Muro-Rambo, one of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s ‘Strongest Warrior’ tournaments, and I took the TV Title in a single match from Takeshita, last year’s G1 Champion and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Considering the current level of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, I’m struggling more than anyone right now with the question of whether it’s actually good for the pro-wrestling world for Shun Skywalker to stay and keep fighting,” he said.     Shun Skywalker said that him defeating Konosuke Takeshita in under ten minutes could lead to NJPW’s eventual defunct

    Konosuke Takeshita lost to Skywalker at Destruction in Kobe in only ten minutes. The 30-year-old said in the interview mentioned above that this is a worrying sign because NJPW is at risk of closure due to a lack of competition.

    “While the so-called ‘new generation’ was engaged in a ‘toss-up’ among themselves, it was Takeshita who swept them all away in one fell swoop. And Shun Skywalker knocked out that very Takeshita in just 10 minutes… If things continue like this, New Japan Pro-Wrestling might come to an end,” he said.

    Skywalker was seemingly in character during this conversation. Hopefully, Konosuke Takeshita will recapture the NJPW World Television Championship soon.
