Tottenham Hotspur are starting to make plans for upcoming transfer windows, having made a disastrous start to the Premier League season.
After the opening five matches, Roberto De Zerbi‘s side are rooted to the bottom of the table, and they were on the receiving end of a 3-2 defeat at home against Aston Villa last time out, in which they looked defensively fragile, despite spending a lot of money to strengthen their backline.
The visitors were simply more clinical, racing into a 3-0 lead, despite only creating two big chances in the entire match, and the result leaves De Zerbi with a lot of work to do, considering his side are already seven points adrift of the top seven.

Spurs’ attack has arguably been a bigger issue, given that they have failed to score in four of their five Premier League matches this term, but they are now looking to make another high-profile addition to their defence.
Tottenham express interest in signing Kim Min-jae
According to a report from Spain, Tottenham have now expressed interest in signing Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae, but there could be competition in the race for his signature, with Aston Villa also keen, while AC Milan have already lodged an enquiry.
Interestingly, the German side are willing to sanction a departure, and they have set a price tag of €40m (£34m), with a sale deemed to be highly likely, meaning the South Korean could be an attainable target for Spurs.
The 29-year-old is a seasoned international, collecting 84 caps for South Korea, and he has lifted a total of ten trophies for club and country across his career, which showcases that he has a winning mentality.
Paris Saint-Germain star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has dubbed the centre-back as “extraordinary”, and an average of 8.9 defensive contributions per 90 across 25 Bundesliga appearances last season was the highest number in the Bayern Munich squad.
What Son Heung-min has said about Kim Min-jae
Former Tottenham star Son Heung-min is also a keen admirer of his compatriot, saying: “(Kim) Min-jae is a player I really like and cherish. He is becoming one of the best players in the world, and I am confident that he will become one again. I have never once doubted Min-jae.”
However, Spurs strengthened heavily at centre-back during the summer transfer window, signing Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi, so they should only make a move for the £197,000-a-week Bayern defender if their new signings fail to make an impact between now and January.
